At USW we recognise that the decision to embark on a legal career can be both exciting and daunting; it is why we put employability at the heart of everything we do. Taught by practicing solicitors, our courses embed law in action, development of professional skills and the building of professional networks, which help to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to embark upon successful legal careers. This is underpinned by our award-winning Legal Advice Clinic which is integrated into all our law courses.

The Legal Advice Clinic exposes every student to real-life clients and the opportunity to provide them with free legal assistance under the supervision of qualified solicitors. As well as playing their part in furthering access to justice in the local community, students will be able to use the Legal Advice Clinic to network with some of the leading law firms in South Wales. On our LLM Professional Practice (SQE) course, students can even use their time in the Legal Advice Clinic to gain the equivalent of 0.10 FTE hours towards Qualifying Work Experience.

We pride ourselves on offering students a tailored approach to their courses, which includes the opportunity to study market-relevant optional modules, all the while supported closely by experienced staff. It is little wonder that the USW law school is within the Guardian top 50 and was top rated in Wales for academic support, assessment, and feedback in the National Student Survey 2023.

We offer the following professional courses on both a full and part-time basis:

•    PgDip Legal Practice Course (LPC);
•    LLM Legal Practice Course (LPC); and
•    LLM Professional Practice (SQE).
