Prepare for success in the SQE 1 exams (July 2026) and build a strong foundation for SQE 2 with Sheffield Hallam School of Law’s innovative LLM Legal Practice Development (SQE Preparation) course.

What You’ll Gain:
- Targeted SQE Preparation: Master the core knowledge for SQE 1 and develop essential legal practice skills aligned with the five SQE 2 practice areas.
- Practical, Skills-Based Modules: In your first two trimesters, you’ll study: Advocacy, Drafting and Legal Reasoning; Interviewing, Legal Writing and Research

Real Legal Experience or In-Depth Research: In your final trimester, choose the path that suits your career goals:
- Legal Work Experience Module: Work on live client cases in areas such as refugee and asylum law, prison law, civil disputes, and family law through our Hallam Legal Advice Centre. This hands-on experience, guided by seasoned legal professionals, may count towards your Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).
- Dissertation Module: Already have a training contract or QWE lined up? Deepen your expertise with a research project in a legal area of your choice, supported by expert academic supervision.

Eligibility requirements
A 2.2 or above in a UK undergraduate degree in law or a degree in any subject plus a Graduate Diploma in Law/Common Professional Examination. We will also consider applicants with a degree in any subject plus a minimum of three years relevant professional legal experience, who may be accepted following interview. If English is not your first language, you will need an IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in both reading and writing and 5.5 in all other skills, or equivalent.
