Course information

This course is a stepping stone for non-law graduates to go on to qualify for a career in law and will give you a practical edge in the employment market. You will gain the skills, experience, contacts and credentials you need to kick-start your legal career, by studying the core foundations of legal knowledge (aligned with SQE stage 1) and then going on to obtain legal work experience in our on-campus practising law firm, SHU Law Limited. The course is studied at Masters’ level, thereby also entitling you to apply for the Student Finance Postgraduate loan.

Eligibility requirements

Any undergraduate degree from a UK or Irish university or its equivalent in any discipline with a minimum of a 2.2 classification or its equivalent. Students without a 2:2 honours degree from the UK or Republic of Ireland must evidence that they meet the academic entrance requirements of the relevant professional body. Applicants who do not hold a UK first degree must obtain a Certificate of Academic Standing from The Bar Standards Board if they wish to qualify as a barrister.
