We are currently experiencing a high demand for information about applications and unfortunately this has resulted in a backlog of email queries. These are being dealt with as a matter of urgency but that means that we are not currently taking phone messages for which we apologise.

If you have already emailed us please be assured that your query will be dealt with. If you need to contact us with a new query please use the following email address cabsadmin@lawcabs.ac.uk.

As an exception for this year details of LPC applications completed and submitted, but awaiting a reference, at the first round deadline date have been passed to the chosen institutions. The same will apply for all GDL applications which have been completed and submitted by the end of 1st February 2010.

We will pass on the reference details to the Institutions as they are received.

LEGAL PRACTICE COURSE

Legal Practice Courses are designed by individual Universities, by The College of Law and by BPP Law School. While all the courses have to meet the written standards stipulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority, they are all unique, and this means that there may be some variations in how the subjects are taught and assessed. For the 2010-11 academic year, Institutions will be offering either the current Legal Practice Course or the New Legal Practice Course. The current Course will be discontinued after the 2010-11 academic year and replaced by the New Course.

The Legal Practice Course Central Applications Board (LPC CAB) provides a central applications system to all Institutions providing a full-time attendance Legal Practice Course. The CAB has, however, no role in the admission processes of individual Institutions.

The minimum duration of a full-time CPE/GDL course is 36 weeks including examination weeks. The course must involve not less than 1620 student study hours.

The CPE/Diploma in Law Courses Central Applications Board (CPE CAB) provides a central applications system to all Institutions providing a full-time attendance CPE/GDL Course. The CPE CAB has, however, no role in the admission processes of individual Institutions.
